“Meditation is merely hypnosis without suggestion…” – is what some hypnotherapists will tell you.

And whilst this in some (very few) instances may well be true, it is unfortunate that this view is promulgated, as this only describes a very limited aspect of meditation, and does not consider the phenomenal number of forms of meditation that are in fact out there. It also does not consider the true nature of most forms of meditation.

To illustrate this I would suggest that one consider the incredible number of guided meditations that are offered, sold, and promoted by various profit and not-for-profit organizations. Of course to fully understand the impact of this one has to consider the makeup of most of these guided meditations, which include a few primary elements :

1. Usually designed to create an alternate state of consciousness.

2. Usually designed with a specific life / meditative objective in mind.

3. These objectives are even sometimes pursued in some form of metaphor, visualized or otherwise.

4. Can be administered by oneself, or by another, or in a group context, with great success.

When this is reviewed, it is clear that there is almost always an objective which is pursued in guided meditations. One then also has to acknowledge that no objectives can be reached without some form of suggestion to prod the practitioner in the right direction. Of course there are various other forms of meditation in which suggestion, in itself, plays a lesser role. It should be remembered though, that meditation without objective is usually fairly pointless, and as such most forms of meditation is practiced with some objective in mind. And not surprising is also then the fairly obvious deduction that there has to be some suggestion, even in these.

A further example of this would be a simple application of meditation for the purpose of relaxation. (a fairly common practice). In this instance there remains an objective. “Relaxation”. And whilst suggestion is not usually passed during the meditation, they are usually pre meditative suggestions, which are then acted out during the meditation, and usually with desired results.

So to reduce in definition meditation to a pointless exercise, would be less than fair. This of course brings to mind another point of consideration.

Is there really a difference between hypnosis and meditation?… After all they do seem to have similar primary properties. And if so, wherein lies the distinction, if there is one ?…

Whilst the answers to these questions remain somewhat more complex, it should be considered that whilst this may not be recognized at this stage, meditation is clearly a less formalized form of hypnosis, and in fact qualifies as hypnosis in most analogies. Especially when the properties of an average meditation is considered.

In fact when this analogy is considered further, it comes to mind that meditation sets out to do in principle the same as hypnosis. It also focuses on creating mental states within which it is possible to manipulate the mind towards achieving objectives that have been set. One thing to remember though is that this is usually practiced in a far less formal environment, and more so in a solo situation, essentially resembling self hypnosis. Of course there are group environments wherein meditation is practiced, and usually in guided form. These however still maintain similar properties and as such can be as effective as most forms of hypnosis practiced.

With this in mind it would appear that there is virtually no distinction to be made in definition, except for their uses as therapeutic tools.

1. It is possible to therapeutically utilize hypnosis to manipulate and monitor responses from patients. This making it possible to apply direct, and instantly adaptable mental therapy in a controlled environment. This offers therapists an opportunity to treat more severe mental ailments for which meditation would not be suitable. Essentially this is achieved by the creation of externalized control through hypnosis, which is conducive to safe mental healing, of fairly severely ill patients. This also offers a fairly simple alternative to meditation for those who do not possess the inner ability and strength, to self hypnotize / meditate.

2. Whilst meditation can also be used as a therapeutic tool, it requires more practitioner internalized ability. Considering the nature of meditation, and the significant similarities that exist between meditation and hypnosis, meditation can be used as efficiently as most self hypnosis techniques, and even some therapeutic uses like regression and other forms of related hypnotherapies, are available to advanced meditators. It is possible for a practitioner to achieve similar result with meditation as with hypnotherapy, on things like say “helping you quit smoking”. However when it comes to more severe mental ailments / conditions hypnotheraphy is without a doubt better for dealing with the issues that may come forth, due to the externalized ability of the therapist to monitor and improvise a session as needed.

Accepting this I would suggest that meditators should not be afraid to explore their own minds and abilities using meditation as a platform, and expanding it to include what would traditionally be considered selfhypnosis techniques. Noting that if this is done with care, one can achieve a lot more from your meditation, in a lot less time. Especially when combining techniques from both genres when focus is placed on inner self ability, rather than the traditional hypnosis requirement for externalized control. Applying this, one is also offered a unique opportunity to set your own hypnosis / meditative goals, which is not normally possible with hypnotherapists, as they usually want to decide what is best for you.

Of course there will always remain room for externalized hypnosis / meditation, and if the therapist can be trusted, this can also come with amazing benefit, and probably somewhat quicker results, than expected from attempts to do it on your own.

If you’re like most golfers you probably already know that once you learn how to swing your club, golf becomes a mental game. Here’s what legendary golfer Bobby Jones had to say about his home golf course,

“Golf is played on a 5 1/2 inch course…the space between my ears.”

Golf greats like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Tiger Woods, all have claimed how important the practice of their mental games were and how much they contributed to their success on the links. You probably know that 90% of golf is mental, but the fact is not many golfers know how to develop the mental strategies that are necessary to excel at the game. And of those, fewer still even continue to work at it.

Golf hypnosis is the secret of the pros. They’ve been using it and have kept quiet about it so they could keep it as their own edge over the competition. If you are reading this you might have already figured out that you need some help with the mental aspects of your game.

The truth is that golf hypnosis doesn’t require much in the way of work. With golf hypnosis you will train to uncover the gold you already have inside and learn to use that gold naturally without “work” or effort. You can visit with a golf hypnotist who will first, train you to go into trance. After you have achieved a sufficient state of hypnosis he will then use your imagination to practice your state control. The proper state of physical and mental relaxation that’s required for you to achieve your best score. And then through your continual mental rehearsal you will become familiar with getting that state in even the most difficult situations.

If you want to take your golf game to a whole new level, then golf hypnosis is the next logical step for you. Peak sports performance doesn’t just happen. You need to know how to get there. With peak mental training using golf hypnosis you can knock 5 to 10 swings off your game, by unleashing your power that’s been locked up inside you.

You might be unsure that it’s just your mental game that’s at fault. Well there a few surefire ways to know with certainty. And you can start by just answering the following questions. Are you able to shoot your best games when there’s nothing at stake? And then when the pressure is on, even easy shots become your worst nightmare? Are you unable to shake the bad feeling of a misplaced shot, or a bad hole easily? And does that cause your whole game to go down the tubes?

If you can identify with those scenarios, then you will benefit from the mental training tips that are offered to you by a golf hypnotist. In hypnosis you are able to do visualization drills in a profound way. You are able to repeat proper play at the speed of thought to ingrain them into your neural pathways so they quickly become habitual.

It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned pro, or an up and coming young competitor, mental training in peak performance will assist you to get the results you want. Take a moment now to imagine being the envy of others in the clubhouse. People milling about trying to find out what your secret weapon is, how you managed to break 70 or 80 so quickly and stay there. If you can use your imagination in this way, that’s an indication that you already have the skills to achieve your very best.

There are many covert hypnosis courses available on the internet, some good…and some not so good. Perhaps the best known is the controversial Underground Hypnosis course produced by Taylor Starr. But is that the best? Not in my opinion. While it doesn’t get quite the same amount of press or coverage I have found, out of all the covert hypnosis courses I have tried, that The Power of Conversational Hypnosis course is by far the best on the market. Allow me to explain why.

No other course or program is as in-depth as The Power of Conversational Hypnosis. There are over 17 hours of audio instructions as well as a few eBooks thrown in to the mix. All of this material has been recorded or written by master hypnotist Igor Ledochowski who is a very clear communicator which makes the lessons he teaches very easy to follow.

Igor is clearly very confident that The Power of Conversational Hypnosis is the best covert hypnosis course available as he happily offers a 60 day money back guarantee, although I can guarantee that after you’ve bought the course you will have no reason to ask for a refund.

Topics covered building rapport, signal recognition, hypnotic language, building authority, emotional triggers, destroying resistance, inductions, frame control, trance formulas, and how to master conversational hypnosis. That is everything you need to know about covert hypnosis all in one course.

So if you’ve been considering buying a covert hypnosis course then I would fully recommend The Power of Conversational Hypnosis.

Go visit The Power of Conversational Hypnosis to find out more.

Over the course of the last two years one of the requests I’ve received most from regular visitors to HypnoBusters is for Jon to create a self hypnosis course. I can now say that the request is soon to be fulfilled as Jon is currently working on an audio course that will teach anyone how to master self hypnosis.

While it will be in-depth (currently I am told it is seven parts) it will also be easy to follow.

We haven’t currently got a release date set for the HypnoBusters self hypnosis course but keep checking back here and on HypnoBusters to get the very latest updates.

I’m reading a recent New Scientist article talking about the Five emotions you never knew you had and I’m starting to think about how our emotions influence our golf And they’re influencing us every time we play

Now I’m sure that like the rest of us, you’re experiencing all sorts of emotions every minute of every day of your life It’s a key element of living whether we are playing golf or doing something less important

So what are these emotions I’m talking about? Well, as the article says, we all see different ones, but the consensus seems to include what psychologists apparently call the Big Six – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, Surprise and Disgust Well they all crop up on a regular basis in golf, now don’t they? And they all appear either as desires or problems with many of the people who seek help from golf psychologists They all tie in to Enjoying your Golf; Fear of Golfing Failure and Success; and Anger Management in Golf as some of the Secrets of Hypnotic Golf

More indirectly, I guess that Sadness, Surprise and Disgust are also addressed by Positive Framing on the Golf Course; Post-Shot Routines: Planning your Shot, State Management in Golf; and Protection from Covert Hypnosis

So what about the Five emotions you never knew you had? Well, according to New Scientist, these are Elevation, Interest, Gratitude, Pride and Confusion You may not be surprised to hear that these fit in well with golf psychology as well

Elevation, the uplifting emotion, is something we feel when we are inspired and motivated In fact we have many expressions for it in our language like “things are looking up” In golf psychology, I relate it to the concept of managing our physiology between shots As I describe when talking about Physiology and Between Shots, if we walk the fairways with our head held high, we feel uplifted and positive As a result, we play better golf

Curiosity is one of the key things that make us human It’s also the key element to planning our shots – an essential part of our pre-shot routines I know that I’m always talking about trusting your unconscious mind for better golf However, the conscious mind with its analytical curiosity has a part to play as well

What about Gratitude? Isn’t that just the way we feel about a good shot? Well, that’s true, but there’s more to it than just that As I describe in Positive Framing on the Golf Course, you can feel a lot better about a bad lie on the golf course if you think about how much worse it could have been Being grateful for small mercies can have a very positive effect on your golf

Pride can be a two edge sword – the New Scientist article describes it as the emotion with two faces However, feeling proud about what happens on the golf course is what many of us play for There’s nothing wrong with feeling proud of a good drive or breaking 90, 80 or even 70 – whatever level you aspire to You can store that pride as a resource when using NLP Anchoring for Better Golf

That leaves us with the most enigmatic of the five – Confusion Surely there’s nothing positive to say about that, Andrew! Well perhaps I should leave that one to Richard Bandler, the co-founder of NLP, to describe why even confusion is a positive emotion for golf and life

“Confusion is the doorway to reorganizing your perceptions and learning something new If you were never confused, that would mean that everything that happened to you fit your expectations, your model of the world, perfectly Life would simply be one boring, repetitive experience after another “

Andrew Fogg, the Golf Hypnotist, is an enthusiastic golfer, hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner.
